When a cult's latest forced inductee is the daughter of a U.S. Congressman, they draw the attention of investigators who are about to discover evil like they never imagined. The charismatic leader offers hope of eternal life, but for whom? Strange ceremonies called communion leave the participants weak and with a gap in their memories. Peggy Walsh desperately wants to get out, but living under Farkas' iron rule, she has no chance. Her only hope lies with a most unexpected person who plans on bringing down the false prophet. This is not your standard by today's trends vampire novel. This is the best in psychological horror. At first, it seems like a study in the nightmare of cultic worship; then, comes the twist. The metaphor between cults and vampires is profound, yet not flagrant. This proves something can be scary without being gross, as is the norm for most horror today. Bravo. |
