Jane Van Helsing has not had a normal life; how could she as the daughter of one of the most notable vampire and other evil being slaying families? Unfortunately, she's just not very good at slayage. She hates the sight of blood and has botched a few killings. Now, to redeem herself, she needs to kill Dracul, who she believes is masquerading as Asher, the Earl of Wolverton. Garbed as Cleopatra in a gown designed by Elizabeth Burton and armed with holy water, Jane attends a masquerade where Asher will be attending, but only ruins his clothes. When she tries something more old fashioned, like a stake, well, we won't say were she staked him, but it wasn't the heart. All she achieved was to be forced into marriage with a vampire. Who ever heard of a slayer and vampire being married, much less in love? Yet, somehow, both things happen. Tongue in cheek humor seasons this delightful tale. Seeing how many in-jokes and puns you can find is almost as much fun as reading the story itself. |
