A Garrison of German WWII soldiers are billeted in a Keep in Transylvania, are systematically and gruesomely murdered. The SS are sent to investigate the murders and eliminate the killer; maybe a Vampire – or worse... An academic and his daughter are summoned to explain the associated myths. Enter the power for good in the guise of a red-haired stranger!!!

Plot
A rather silly plot with evil Germans, evil entities and a hero (with a sword, of course). The story itself moves forward quickly with plenty of adventure, horror and menacing shadows. It is a little predictable with a fairy-tale like ending.

Characters
All the Germans are the usual stereotypes, loud, strutting and evil. There is no depth to their characters. The evil entity is well described and quite enigmatic at times. One almost felt sorry for him. The hero came straight out of a comic book, rode to the rescue and got the girl!

General
A simple to read book, easy to pick up and put down. Not too gruesome, with some tender moments.
