This is the story of a guy called Tom Winter who buys a cottage just outside the town in which he grew up, and discovers a tunnel in the basement connected to New York city in 1963. The only problem is he is not the only person who knows about this tunnel.

This is the kind of fiction I read Robert Charles Wilson for. Great concept well expored, good characters and decent prose. This book is not his best but it is well worth reading.
