The main character, John Shaw, in this book is the result of a secret experiment to create the perfect man. Whilst still in utero he was treated to enhance his intelligence. Whilst growing up and as an attempt to fit in and be normal he created a normal seeming persona and played the part until he left his foster home. The problem is this persona has returned to the adult John and taken over. The man responsible for the experiment tries to track him down and help him cope with the results of the experiment. This is more intelligent slightly paranoid SF from Wilson, once more reminiscent of Philip K. Dick from one of my favourite modern SF authors. Great stuff, I must read more of the authors books. |
