Josh Michaels is a happily married man. One day, whilst driving home, he is forced off the road by another driver and crashes into a river. Unable to swim, Josh desperately tries to escape his sinking car but as he sinks deeper into the water he realises that far from helping, the other driver is watching him die and gives a "thumbs-down" gesture towards Josh as the car sinks further. Against the odds, Josh survives. However, he is convinced that his car crash was no accident. Someone is trying to kill him. Soon, further "accidents" bring him to realise that someone must have taken a contract out on him. "Accidents" is a well-written thriller with an intriguing, complex storyline. The main character, Josh, is no angel. In the past he took a bribe in order to pay for his daughter's life-saving medical treatment. He also had an affair with his secretary. Now all of these "Skeletons" have come back to haunt him. I couldn't help feeling, now and again, that he was just getting what he deserved! I do enjoy a good thriller, especially when it is as well written as this one. The story is written from the point of view of both Josh and the contract killer and this gives an interesting dimension to the tale. I would love to see this story made into a movie! |
