Everyone who has dated has probably had at least one date from down below. Well, humans are not the only ones who have bad dates. Kim Harrison's books usually focus on Rachel Morgan, but in 'Undead in the Garden of Good and Evil', we find out a little more about Ivy, the living vampire who is one third of the team. Seeing her before she met Rachel will give fans of the series a new perspective on the tortured lady. On a lighter note, Lynsay Sands' heroine, Claire, finally gets a shot at dating the guy she's had a crush on since she was twelve. Unfortunately, the high school reunion he is taking her to happens after she was hit by a laser that imbues her with shape-shifting abilities. That means her dates twin sister wants Claire to go as HER date, as Brad Cruise, the hottest male star of their century, and she asked first. No problem, Claire can just duck in and out of the bathroom all night and switch between being Brad and herself, with hilarious results. The action does not pause for breath in Kelley Armstrong's 'Chaotic as Hope', a half demon supernatural, uses her talent for detecting chaos to try and stop a werewolf thief, and in the process finds out she's been working for a renegade who is using her to cross the Cortez Cabal. Knowing the truth makes both her and her new partner targets for murder. Finally, Lori Handeland's plain Jane heroine discovers the hazards of online dating when she finds out she has something that all demons want, and needs a rogue demon hunter (please, don't make Angel jokes, he gets touchy), to save her and stop Armageddon. Often times, you buy an anthology hoping to get one good story from a favorite author. In this case, all four are winners, though very different. Grab this one quick, I understand it's flying off the shelves. |
