Art is supposed to, metaphorically, give us a glimpse of another realm, but what if it actually could do that in a literal sense? Three authors explore that concept as one unique painting does that for their heroines. Rebecca York gives Sara Drimmon a chance to undo the heartache that has metamorphized her into a hollow, lonely young woman. If she can change history, she can change herself into the best self she could ever be, and save the man she loves.

Then, Sara becomes the painting's caretaker in "Ulterior Motives" by Susan Kearney, and offers a second woman, a singer who has lost her voice, the chance to flee her sad world to an alien future where she will be caught between two men. One wants to use her, one to love her, and only bravery can tip the balance and set her free.

Finally, Jeanie London gives us a glimpse of how the painting might have come to be as an artist with a special gift has the chance to benefit from the painting.

Each story is somewhat unusual as three time periods and many lives are linked by a magical enigma. Of the three, the best comes first, as Rebecca York's characters are the most sympathetic and easy to relate to. It's a shame this story could not be told at book length.

Synopsis
Midnight Magic is a unique collection of three novellas, all grouped around a similar theme: an abstract magical painting called Midnight Magic. Many years ago, a heartbroken magician used magic paint to create a new reality for himself - and after the painting was finished, he disappeared into it. Now, everyone who looks at this painting sees something different-and sometimes the heartbroken and lovelorn fall into it and find love and happiness. With three paranormal romance tales contributed by bestselling authors Susan Kearney, Rebecca York, and Jeanie London, this anthology is sure to live up to the reputations of all three authors, and appeal to each of their unique reading public.
