Anthologies are not the easiest type of literature to review. With few exceptions, they are a mixed bag, and readers might wish they could buy one or two of the stories while chucking the rest. Such is the case in this collection of ghost stories. While none of these stories fall into the Ghost and Mrs. Muir or Everlastin' category, in which a mortal and ghost find a love that transcends the barrier between life and death, not all of them are designed to scare you.

Some are, such as 'Griselda' or 'Dance With Me'. Others have a "haunting" sweetness; 'Maxie' and 'Deja Vu' stand out in this category. Still others, like 'Fireball Faye' or 'Forgotten, Not Gone' have the feel of a campfire tale or urban legend. 'What's a Ghost to Do' stands out as a purely comedic bit of fluff, much like the Canterville Ghost. So, almost any sort of ghost fan, other than the pure romantic, will find something herein, though not all the stories will appeal to every reader.

Synopsis
On the lonely trails of the windswept plains, desperate spirits wander across time burdened with the raw emotion of their unsettled lives.

Does the fog creeping up from the river bring vengeful ghosts seeking to settle an old score? Are the fleeting shadows you see from the corner of your eye leading you to the horrors of the restless dead?

These sixteen compelling and spooky stories of love, legends and evil will challenge your sense of reality. Is the deserted church really the Gates of Hell? Can a murdered cat save a young woman's life? Will the friendship of two small children surmount even death? How far will a long-dead mother go to get back a precious charm bracelet? What is the prairie spirit that demands a terrible price from those who break the sod?

From a wind-tossed lake to a lonely abandoned cemetery; from a stone mansion to a barnstormer's plane, eerie specters await you as you dare to trespass time.
