Joe Nassise Information and Links
Joe Nassise's writing career began on a dare in college. The resulting 525 page hand
written manuscript was rediscovered in late 2000, edited while being transcribed
into a computer, and was quickly accepted for publication by Barclay Books. The
novel Riverwatch was born. Nine months later it had been nominated for both the
International Horror Guild Award and the Bram Stoker Award, making it one of the
top four debut horror novels of 2001. It was also optioned to become a feature
film.
Pocket Books recently published a revised version of Riverwatch as a mass
market paperback. 2003 also saw the publication of a fair amount of his short
fiction in such volumes as Hastur Pussycat Kill Kill, The Book of Final Flesh,
and Framed.
His new dark fantasy series, The Templar Chronicles, will see publication from
Pocket Books beginning in late 2004. The first book in the series, Heretic, will
be followed in 2005 with Darkness Coming On. A third is tentatively planned.
That same year his first hardcover novella, More Than Life Itself, will be
released by Telos in the UK.
In addition to being a writer, Joe Nassise also acts as an editor. His first hardcover
anthology, Verte Brume - The Anthology of Absinthe, will be released in early
2004 from Medium Rare Books and will contain short fiction from such notable
writers as Douglas Clegg, Poppy Z. Brite, Jack Ketchum, Tim Lebbon, Caitlin
Kiernan, and Simon Clark.
He was also recently elected as president of the Horror Writers Association,
the twelfth individual to hold this post. Past presidents have included Dean
Koontz, Charles Grant, and Brian Lumley.
