This is one of the Adult Buffy books. They weren't kidding. This book certainly contains more gore than a TV series episode. The story beings when Buffy and co visit a Renaissance faire that is visiting Sunnydale which leads them into a confrontation with the Wild Hunt and a creature straight from Norse mythology. The story drags you through and keeps you interested, the caharacters seem fairly true to the TV series characters and gave me the idea that the writers at least watch the series upon which their book is based which is an improvement over some I have read. The only slight down side I felt is tht the Renaissance Faire was under used and left as a little bit of a loose thread but that didn't spoil what was a most enjoyable read. |

Now this is what I call a TV tie-in! The characters are faithful to their TV versions and the story is excellent. The best characterisation has to be that of Giles. I have never read an American author who has written a more convincing "sarcastic Englishman". I was almost disappointed when the story finished! OK, I know that I might be considered a bit old to watch Buffy but to be quite honest, I don't care! If you are a closet Buffy fan (or slightly more "out") and want a rip-roaring tale with plenty of action then this is the book for you. |
