After coming to the conclusion that she is cursed when it comes to dating, Paige meets Colin. Everything seems perfect, especially when he is proven to not be Demon or Warlock. Things start to move rather quickly and within a few dates Colin proposes to her. The only problem with this is that just as he proposes to Paige, Corinne appears – Colin's already existing fiancée. And not only is Colin engaged to someone else already, but that he is a Prince of a Magickal Kingdom as well. And that his motivation for proposing to Paige was to prevent an old curse from coming into effect – that he must marry a magickal being by his twenty-fifth birthday to prevent many of the citizens of his realm dying. Yes, the Charmed Ones find themselves in the middle of a fairy tale. This is an immensely easy book to read – I breezed through the 206 pages in less than two hours of reading. And at the end of it I felt refreshed. Of late I have read some fairly weighty tomes and had other factors vying for control of my time and stamina of late so what I needed right now was one or two comfortable books, mind candy if you like… This book is it. I've been along term fan of telefantasy – as I write this review an episode of Stargate SG-1 is playing on the TV in front of me. And in addition to liking the shows I have been a long term fan of the tie-in fiction – which anyone following the reviews I've written on this site will know. So they tend to be books I turn to when I run out of steam reading-wise. This one was perfect for my needs when I picked it up two days ago… It's consistent with the series, it's fun, the characters are familiar to those I watch in the series, the plot is similar in style and intensity. In other words what you have here is supernatural-lite, magick fluffiness with a smile. And it was just what I wanted from it, when I picked the book of the shelf. |
