Between those of the fang and claw, the vampires and the werewolves, a hostile peace has reigned for ages. Beneath the uneasy truce lies a hatred that none will cross in friendship, much less love. Then, during a wave of violence that threatens to destroy not only the two supernatural races but also the humans caught in the cross fire, Michael steps from the shadows into Keeli's life. Though he is a vampire, and therefore her enemy, the young wolf woman finds herself pulled towards him as if by a tractor beam. There is something different about him, he has no more love for his own race than she does. Defying all convention, their passion blossoms into love, and that is perhaps the most dangerous thing of all in their perilous world. Creating an intriguing world populated by three distinct, yet similiar races, Ms. Liu has begun what should be a promising series. Though much like Linda L Miller's vampire series, particularly the first volume of it, this is edgier. Fans of Angel or Kindred, the Embraced will find this extremely appealing. |
