When I was originally given this book to read it was with the hope that, like the Harry Potter books, this would be a children's book that could also hold its own in the world of adult fiction. Unfortunately this is not the case. Pirate Pandemonium is the story of Sabrina, her aunts and Salem the cat all joining forces with Black Edwin Peas, an old pirate friend of Zelda's, to search for some ancient treasure. Along the way there is a little magic and more than a little slapstick humour. As an adult I found this book rather difficult to read but I am sure that younger fans of the TV series would find it very enjoyable. For once I will not score this book out of 10 as I feel it would be unfair to grade this story with an adult's eyes. |
